Our Logistics Division operates across the UK and provides our blue-chip customers with integrated logistics solutions which include warehousing facilities, road and rail distribution and supply chain management. We operate over 500 artic trucks and manage over 7 million square feet of warehousing and major rail freight terminals. The Group currently has an exciting opportunity for a Monday-Friday Nightshift Shunter based at our Haydock Depot located near St Helens. The position of Shunter is an integral role in our operations team and involves driving a Tug/Shunt Unit, checking equipment for suitability, shunting trailers in and out of loading bays and securing loads internally within our premises. The nature of this role is physically demanding and includes opening and closing trailer curtains, connecting and disconnecting trailers and securing loads, so the ideal candidate should be physically fit and resilient in terms of manual working. Keeping in regular contact with the Warehouse and Transport teams is essential to provide updates on progress and managing our customers' expectations, as is a 'can-do' attitude and drive to achieve using your own initiative. You'll be a key member of our team, working alongside colleagues from the depot and in-coming drivers. You must be confident and have good communication skills given the safety critical nature of the work that is undertaken. A Class 1 LGV licence is not essential for this role as full training will be provided and this is a great way to gain practical experience, however previous work in a logistics environment would be beneficial. This is an exciting opportunity to kick start a long-term career in logistics with opportunities to progress and develop, such as in fork lift operations, stock control or even lorry driving!
