Religion is a Theistic worldview.\n\n**History and Background:**\nDeism gained prominence in the 17th and 18th centuries as religion was increasingly challenged and scientific knowledge of the natural world expanded dramatically. Deists believed that divine laws could be discerned from a study of nature rather than sacred texts, and seeing the work of a supreme designer in the order of the natural world.
