Exciting new position working with prestigious high performance engines - Wellingborough based The Company Autocraft Machining Solutions is part of the Autocraft Solutions Group. Our 7,000sqm site in Wellingborough is home to the group’s medium to high volume head and block machining capability, and boasts an impressive state-of-the-art assembly and test facility producing high-performance engines for a prestigious UK car manufacturer. Purpose of Job   The purpose of the role is to ensure that customer satisfaction is maintained through product conformance to agreed engineering standards and processes. The responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer is to engineer and administer the processes and equipment required for manufacturing activities.  Engineers will work within a cross-functional team responsible for the total life cycle of manufacturing projects.   Supporting New Product Introduction and driving continuous improvement activities with the production cells are also part of the role.   Duties •                     Development of engine build & test processes •                     Resolution of production process issues •                     Diagnose downtime concerns and developing solutions to address them •                     Understand & develop Aria & operator guided systems •                     Assessment of engine running data and identifying faults/issues. You will approve or reject engines readiness for shipping. •                     Create rework proposals based on information from the data output from test including containment actions and concessions. •                     Development of engine test processes. •                     Understand and eliminate sources of waste •                     Manage and prioritise workload for assigned engineers •                     Interface with customers as required •                     Develop specification documents for new equipment, tools or services •                     Development of less experienced engineers in both technical and non-technical skills to become outstanding Build Engineers •                     Oversee, in conjunction with the relevant project managers, the execution of programs for schedule and budget while achieving technical objectives. •                     Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional areas of engine build operations •                     Ensure a responsible approach to health, safety and environmental risks in relation to own and team function and to control the risks or report them to management as appropriate •                     Adhere to company policies, procedures and working practices at all times. •                     To evaluate existing manufacturing systems with a view to optimisation, cost reduction and general continuous improvement using lean principles. Then where appropriate within a cross-functional team, implement the relevant changes •                     To create, maintain and develop Process Documentation i.e. Process Sheets, FMEA, Process Flow and APQP •                     To liaise with the Quality and Production teams to ensure best practices are implemented. •                     Support supplier and internal assessments against the requirements of industry standards as required, providing information and explanation as appropriate. •                     Carry out internal process audits in to ensure that process instructions are being followed and are correct. Take and drive any remedial actions as necessary. •                     To develop repair and rework schemes for products including containment actions and concessions. •                     To lead, co-ordinated or participate in problem solving activities using approved tools and techniques. •                     To work in a IATF16949 environment, upholding the ethics of the company’s quality standards. •                     To travel both in the UK & abroad for supplier/customer visits as required. •                     Ensure a responsible approach to health, safety and environmental risks in relation to own and team function and to control the risks or report them to management as appropriate •                     To perform any other duties reasonably required to achieve departmental and/or Company objectives as deemed appropriate by the Manager / Director responsible. Senior Manufacturing Engineer for Engine Assembly Build and Test - Wellingborough based - Day Shift - Up to £55,000 pa. An exciting opportunity has arisen at Autocraft Machining Solutions based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire for an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer with a minimum 5 years’ experience in an assembly, build and test environment. The Company Autocraft Machining Solutions based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire is part of the Autocraft Solutions Group. ADS is Europe’s largest independent engine remanufacturer and assembler producing over 20,000 engines per year, and is a technology leader in Electric Vehicle battery assembly and remanufacturing solutions, component machining and engineering services to the global OEMs. The Role The successful applicant will join a talented team of engineers delivering low to medium volume assembly systems for new projects as well as providing technical support for the operations and maintenance teams within the existing assembly systems. You will need to be self-motivated and possess excellent communication skills, and a good sense of urgency, flexibility, versatility and commitment will be qualities you pride yourself on. You will be required to have an excellent attention to detail and be confident in communication and training of shop floor operatives. You will also be required to be in communication with Senior level Management and Customers. The purpose of the role is to ensure that customer satisfaction is maintained through product conformance to agreed engineering standards and processes. The responsibility of the Senior Manufacturing Engineer is to ensure the team engineer and administer the process and equipment required for manufacturing activities. Working with the Engineering Manager, you have line manager responsibility for the team, setting priorities and daily activities. You will be a mentor to develop the skill base of the engineers and drive the team and facility forward through improvement activities and identifying, justifying, and implementing new technologies, processes, and equipment.   Your team will drive new product introduction across all aspects of manufacturing engineering in support new proposals, implementation of new lines to include machining and sub assembly processes such as pressure test, part marking, washing, engine build and engine test etc. You will also be responsible to drive improvements to existing processes in support of achieving team and company targets for SQCDPE. Requirements Essential Experience   ·         Proven experience gained within low to medium volume manufacturing processes, preferably gained within an automotive environment. ·         Previous experience of project co-ordination including budget control and man management skills ·         Experienced in engine build and test methodologies, processes and equipment including pick to light & ARIA systems, EOL testing, rigging, testing and de-rigging. ·         Working knowledge of sub assembly process E.g., p/test, part marking, washes etc.   Desirable ·         Proven experience of automotive manufacturing and build and test ·         Previous line manager responsibility ·         Six-Sigma training to green belt levelRequired Skills ·         Solid Works, Autocad, Powermill experience ·         IT literacy, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint ·         Interpretation of geometric tolerancing and 2D drawings ·         Good communication skills.
